Pragmata Wiki Guide

Everything you need to know about Pragmata — release date, demo, story, characters, combat, and more

Pragmata has had one of Capcom's longest modern release roads. The current headline date is April 17, 2026 on Capcom's official site and PlayStation, while Steam shows April 16, 2026 on its store page.

June 11, 2020

First reveal with a 2022 target

Pragmata debuted as a new Capcom science-fiction action-adventure and was originally positioned for a 2022 release window.

2021

Window moved to 2023

Capcom later shifted the game out of 2022 and re-framed the launch window around 2023.

June 2023

Launch timing pulled back again

A new teaser reintroduced the project but removed a near-term launch target, extending the wait beyond the earlier 2023 expectation.

March 5, 2026

Release moved forward by one week

Capcom announced the game would now arrive earlier, changing the date from April 24, 2026 to April 17, 2026.

Current storefront readout

What players see right now

Capcom's official site and PlayStation pages use April 17, 2026. Steam lists April 16, 2026. Both dates point to the same global release window.

Pragmata blends third-person shooting, live puzzle-hacking, traversal, and environmental problem-solving into one loop. Hugh and Diana are always stronger together than apart.

1

Move as Hugh, manage space before you commit

Hugh handles aiming, firearms, dodging, and suit-based mobility. His thrusters also matter outside combat, helping you zip through the lunar facility and reach new paths.

  • Third-person combat built around constant movement
  • Suit thrusters support traversal and repositioning
  • Both combat and exploration begin from Hugh's movement
2

Hack enemies with Diana to break their defenses

Most enemy bots are armored, so raw gunfire is not enough by itself. Diana brings up a grid-style hacking panel that lets you weaken or open enemy defenses in real time.

  • Connecting more blue squares increases hacking effect
  • Successful hacks disable armor and expose weak points
  • Known node examples include Decode and Multi-Hack
3

Convert the hack into damage with the right weapon

Once enemies are opened up, Hugh cashes in with firearms. Some shields must be shot first, some missiles can be hacked back, and your weapon choice changes the pace of each fight.

  • Primary, Attack, Defense, and Tactical weapon roles
  • Red barrier enemies must be opened by gunfire first
  • Incoming missiles can be redirected with a successful hack
4

Use station hacks, upgrades, and Shelter downtime to build your style

Diana can unlock doors and clear blocked routes, while upgrade stations and the Shelter let players improve Hugh's gear, expand hacking options, and shape their preferred playstyle.

  • Diana hacks security systems to open progression routes
  • Upgrade stations improve weapons, stats, and hacking tools
  • Shelter acts as a recovery and progression hub between pushes

Sketchbook is the best live entry point for players who want to understand Pragmata before launch. It is built to teach the game's two-track combat loop and the feel of moving through the lunar research station.

Where to download it

Sketchbook has dedicated store listings on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and it is also surfaced from the main Steam product page.

  • PlayStation Store: PRAGMATA Sketchbook — DEMO
  • Xbox Store: PRAGMATA Sketchbook — DEMO
  • Steam: listed from the main PRAGMATA store page

What the demo includes

Capcom describes Sketchbook as a hands-on slice of the combat system and lunar-station traversal. It shows how the game asks both halves of the duo to operate together.

  • Live shooting-plus-hacking combat
  • Traversal through the lunar research station
  • A practical first look at the game's pace and control rhythm

Platform and language details

The console store pages confirm that the demo supports English and Japanese voice. PS5 and Xbox demo releases were listed as February 5, 2026.

  • Voice support: English and Japanese
  • PS5 and Xbox demo release: February 5, 2026
  • Xbox page highlights 4K Ultra HD, HDR10, 60fps+, and Dolby Atmos

What players can learn before launch

Sketchbook answers the most important pre-release questions better than trailers do. It lets players test whether the hacking layer feels satisfying under pressure.

  • Whether dual-character combat feels intuitive
  • Whether grid-based hacking stays readable during live fights
  • Whether Pragmata's tone, movement, and combat style match your taste

Pragmata's story begins with a lost lunar station, a reality-shaping material called Lunafilament, and an unlikely partnership between Hugh and Diana. The setup is easy to read at a high level, but it leaves plenty of room for mystery.

Hugh Williams and Diana are the core of Pragmata's story, combat loop, and exploration flow. Hugh is the human survivor trying to return to Earth after a lunar quake separates his team, while Diana is a Lunafilament-based android whose hacking abilities make survival possible inside the lunar research station.

Diana

Pragmata Android

Also known as D-I-0336-7, Diana is a Pragmata created using Lunafilament. She hacks enemy armor to expose weak points and can hack the lunar station itself to open blocked routes.

  • Unique android created using Lunafilament
  • Can hack enemy bots and the facility itself
  • Curious, quick to learn, and deeply attached to the name Hugh gives her

Hugh Williams

Security Specialist

Hugh is a member of the dispatch team sent to investigate the lunar facility. Skilled with a wide range of firearms, he also uses his suit's thrusters to move through the station.

  • Separated from his team after a massive lunar quake
  • Proficient with multiple firearms and suit-based mobility
  • Blunt and sarcastic on the surface, but genuinely kind-hearted

Why Their Duo Matters

Combat and Story

Pragmata's two-protagonist setup is not cosmetic. Diana creates openings by hacking armor, systems, and doors, while Hugh turns those openings into progress with guns, mobility, and field survival.

  • Diana controls access and enemy vulnerability
  • Hugh supplies damage, movement, and frontline action
  • Both characters are required for combat, traversal, and narrative progression

Regular gunfire is not enough against armored bots, so every major encounter starts with hacking. Hugh locks onto a target, Diana brings up a grid-style Hacking Panel, and the player draws a continuous path to trigger the hack. Weapon choice, shield breaking, Hacking Nodes, and Shelter upgrades turn each fight into a rhythm of setup, exposure, and payoff.

1

Lock on and trigger Diana's Hacking Panel

When Hugh locks onto an enemy, Diana opens a grid-based panel. Drawing one continuous line through blue squares completes the hack.

  • A successful hack deals damage and temporarily compromises enemy armor
  • Longer paths increase damage and keep armor disabled longer
  • Grid connects in sequence — plan your path before committing
2

Punish exposed weak points with Hugh's weapons

Once Diana exposes the target, Hugh switches from setup to damage. The combat loop rewards turning a clean hack into immediate firearm pressure.

  • Hugh uses multiple gun types suited to different scenarios
  • The Primary Unit is the constant fallback weapon
  • Tactical and Attack options are meant for combo play and burst finishes
3

Read enemy counterplay before committing

Hacking is never free. Some enemies pressure you while the panel is open, forcing you to choose between a better hack or a quick dodge.

  • Red shield barriers block Diana's hacking entirely
  • Those shields must be broken first with Hugh's gun
  • Some homing missiles can be hacked and redirected back at enemies
4

Use specialized weapons for tactical control

Different weapons support different phases of the encounter and make the hack window safer or more rewarding.

  • Tactical Unit can pin enemies down during setup
  • Attack Unit excels at close-range finishing damage
  • Defense Unit can lure enemies away and create breathing room
5

Boost hacks with Hacking Nodes

If Diana is carrying a Hacking Node, yellow tiles appear on the panel. Connecting them activates extra effects and adds more tactical options to each successful hack.

  • Decode lowers enemy defense for easier follow-up
  • Multi-Hack spreads the effect to nearby targets simultaneously
  • Each activation consumes one Hacking Node
6

Return to the Shelter to upgrade the loop

The Shelter is the recovery and upgrade hub. It lets you heal, spend gathered Lunafilament, and improve both combat tools and hacking efficiency.

  • Upgrade weapons and expand your Hacking Node options
  • Carry more nodes for greater flexibility in fights
  • Unlock abilities like Critical Down for knockdown follow-ups

If you are deciding where to buy Pragmata, the key questions are which platform you play on, what features the storefront version supports, and whether you want the extra Shelter Variety Pack. Standard pricing is set at 59.99 USD, while Deluxe is 69.99 USD.

Combat Guide

Pragmata Weapons, Units, and Loadout Options

Pragmata's combat is built around Hugh's guns and Diana's hacking nodes working together in real time. Multiple weapon roles, swappable tools, and hub-based loadout changes encourage distinct playstyles.

Core Firearm

Primary Unit

The one weapon that stays with Hugh regardless of ammo. All other special weapons break once depleted. Your Primary Unit is the fallback for every encounter.

High-Damage Follow-Up

Attack Unit

Used to finish enemies at close range after a hack exposes weak points. Options include a shotgun for close-range bursts and the Charge Piercer rail gun for longer output.

Control and Crowd Pinning

Tactical Unit

Pins, slows, or knocks down enemies so you can safely complete hacks. The Stasis Net immobilizes targets; the Riot Blaster fires concussive blasts that knock enemies off their footing.

Decoy and Aggro Redirect

Defense Unit

Pulls enemy attention away from Hugh or redirects pressure. A Decoy Generator sends enemies toward safe lanes or environmental traps, opening hacking windows without taking fire.

Hack Toolkit

Diana's Hacking Nodes

Decode lowers enemy defense, Multi-Hack spreads the effect to nearby targets, and Critical Down lets you knock down weakened enemies for a melee follow-up. Node choice shapes every fight.

Hub Strategy

Loadout Management

Save points let you return to the Shelter to swap your loadout between encounters. Upgrades can unlock new abilities, add mod slots, and strengthen Hugh or Diana's toolkit.

Enemy Guide

Pragmata Enemy Types and Boss Fight Patterns

Pragmata's enemies are designed to interrupt your combat rhythm. Shield bots force gunplay before hacking, missile bots add pressure during hacks, and colossal bosses turn the loop into a longer tactical exchange.

Base Systems

PRAGMATA treats the Shelter as more than a pause room. It is the place where Hugh and Diana turn discoveries into permanent combat options, meet support bot Cabin, and launch back out toward unlocked parts of the station through the Tram and Escape Hatch network.

3D Printers

Weapons and Hacking Nodes that you discover in the field become unlockable at the Shelter's 3D printers. Turns field discoveries into persistent upgrades covering both weapons and Hacking Nodes.

Loadout Upgrades

The Shelter is where Hugh and Diana strengthen their combat setup for tougher enemies deeper in the lunar facility. Use the hub to refine your next loadout between runs.

Cabin

Cabin is an independent support bot stationed in the Shelter and connected to the wider CABIN system. A friendly support presence inside the base, separate from the hostile systems controlling the station.

Escape Hatches

Escape Hatches are unlockable return points that tie exploration back to the Shelter. Unlock them as you advance through the station and they remain available as permanent fast routes.

The Tram

The Tram is the Shelter's travel link to the wider station, letting players move back out toward unlocked Escape Hatches. Makes backtracking and re-entry part of the exploration loop.

Traversal

Pragmata Exploration and Traversal

The lunar research station is designed as a layered space that opens through teamwork. Hugh supplies speed and movement, Diana opens blocked routes through hacking, and the Shelter network ties each push into a larger exploration loop.

1

Use Hugh's Thrusters to Move Fast

Hugh's suit lets him zip through the facility with thruster-assisted movement, making mobility a core part of exploration instead of a passive walk between fights.

2

Let Diana Hack the Station

Diana does not only hack enemies. She can also break into the station's security systems to unlock doors and clear blocked paths forward.

3

Read the Station as a Multi-Layered Space

The facility is structured to reward movement, path opening, and revisiting routes with better tools rather than simple corridor progression.

4

Unlock Escape Hatches Along the Way

Escape Hatches become key route anchors as you explore. They connect your outward progress back to the Shelter once they are unlocked.

5

Return via the Tram

From the Shelter, the Tram lets Hugh and Diana travel back toward unlocked Escape Hatches, turning exploration into a broader hub-and-spoke loop across the station.

6

Stay Ready for Enemy Bots

Even when the station feels empty, hostile bots remain part of the traversal rhythm, so movement, pathing, and combat readiness stay tightly linked.

Demo

The Sketchbook Demo is already useful as a combat sampler, but its bigger hook is replay value. PRAGMATA uses it to introduce traversal, showcase the hacking-and-shooting loop, and reward players who revisit it more than once.

Media Timeline

This timeline pulls together the major official beats that matter most for players landing on the game late. It places the important PRAGMATA trailers in order and shows what each one added to the public picture of the game.
